Councils
Council members deepen their relationship with Dia Art Foundation through a series of intimate events, lectures, and travel focused on the collection and curatorial program. Council members provide essential support for Dia’s artist commissions, exhibitions, public programs, and special projects.
Councils
All Council members receive the following benefits:
- Unlimited free admission to Dia Beacon and Dia Chelsea for council members and up to six guests
- Reciprocal membership benefits and free admission to over fifty modern and contemporary art institutions across the United States and Canada
- Complimentary Dia publications
- 20% discount on publications and merchandise purchased through Dia’s bookshop in Beacon or online
- 10% discount at Homespun Dia Beacon café
- Admission to all public programs (space is limited; seating is offered on a first-come,first-served basis)
- Two complimentary tickets to Dia concerts and performances upon request
- Four complimentary guest passes for one-time admission to Dia Beacon or Dia Chelsea
- Subscription to monthly council newsletters and special event announcements
- Recognition on Dia Beacon’s donor wall and on Dia’s website
- Early purchasing opportunities for Dia Beacon Spring Benefit and Dia Fall Night tickets
Dia’s Art Council offers members the opportunity to join a community of patrons interested in furthering their connection with the foundation through a program of year-round visits and events, such as domestic trips to Dia’s sites and affiliates including the Chinati Foundation, the Dan Flavin Art Institute, and Robert Smithson’s Spiral Jetty (1970).
Benefits include:
- Opportunities to participate in two annual domestic trips to Dia sites or affiliates
- Invitations to all Dia exhibition previews
- Invitations to gallery talks, collection and artist studio visits, curator-led tours, and other programs in the New York area

Curator’s Council members are offered additional opportunities to engage with Dia’s sites and programs through exclusive access to advance reservations for Walter De Maria’s The Lightning Field (1977), private dinners with featured artists, and personal tours of Dia’s collection.

- Access to advance reservations for De Maria’s The Lightning Field
- Invitations to private dinners associated with Dia programming
- One personal tour of Dia Beacon or Dia’s sites in New York City for the council members and six additional guests

Leadership Council members are invited to further their engagement with Dia through international trips with Dia’s board of trustees and director. Members convene annually for a dinner in New York City with guest speakers who present on a range of topics, including the conservation of Land art, the history of Dia’s collection, and the process involved with artist commissions.

- Eligibility to travel with Dia leadership on domestic and international trips
- Invitation to the annual Leadership Council dinner

The Director’s Council underwrites one Dia exhibition or commission each year, enabling the realization of these visionary projects.
