Session Description
Beginning with a short listening exercise to notice the sounds around us, families will use their senses to imagine sounds as colors. What color is the sound of traffic? What color is the sound of a ticking clock? Using color pencils, crayons, or collage, families will learn to interpret the sounds of their environment in new ways.
Hosted on Zoom by artist and educator Audra Wolowiec, each session is free and recommended for families with children ages 5 and up. Space is limited and reservations are required. Reservations open two weeks prior to the program; to register for this free session, please click here.
At-Home Materials
In addition to a device that can join a Zoom video call, you will need the following materials at home:
- Paper or drawing surfaces. This could be anything that you have at home to draw on, such as a sketchbook, used cardboard, paper bags, etc.
- Mark-making or drawing materials like pencils, colored pencils, crayons, pens, markers, or chalk.
Recommended materials (not necessary):
- Collage materials like colorful paper, old magazines, scissors, and glue stick.
- Instruments or objects that make sound, from quiet to loud.
Participants may request materials in the reservation form for the program.
