Rayyane Tabet was born in Achqout, Lebanon, in 1983. Tabet’s artistic practice explores the relationship between history and the built environment. He received a bachelor of architecture from Cooper Union, New York City, and a master of fine arts from the University of California, San Diego. Tabet’s work has been featured in the recent exhibition Forgotten Kingdoms: From the Hittite Empire to the Arameans (2019) at the Louvre in Paris; his work will also be included in the forthcoming exhibition Rayyane Tabet/Alien Property (2019–21) at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Additionally, his work has been presented in numerous solo shows including at Fondazione Antonio Dalle Nogare in Bolzano, Italy (2018), Kunstverein in Hamburg, Germany (2017), daadgalerie in Berlin (2017), Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art in Rotterdam, Netherlands (2017), and Museo Marino Marini in Florence (2016), and has been included in biennials in Sydney (2018), Istanbul (2017), São Paulo (2016), Marrakesh (2016), Sharjah (2015 and 2011), and Venice (2013) as well as the New Museum Triennial in New York (2012). He lives and works in Beirut.
