Dan Flavin: A Retrospective

October 3, 2004–August 12, 2007, Dia Beacon

Overview

Dia Art Foundation, in association with the National Gallery of Art, has organized the first comprehensive retrospective of works by Dan Flavin. Dan Flavin: A Retrospective, curated by former Dia Director Michael Govan and Tiffany Bell, Director of the Dan Flavin catalogue raisonné project, brings together the broad range of Flavin's art including some 45 objects and installations, most of which use the medium of fluorescent light, as well as a significant group of drawings, sketches, and collage-constructions.

The exhibition was organized by Dia Art Foundation, New York, in association with the National Gallery of Art, Washington.

The national tour is sponsored by Altria Group.

The exhibition in Washington and its accompanying catalogue are made possible in part by a grant from Lannan Foundation.

Research for the exhibition and publication was supported by The Henry Luce Foundation and The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, with additional support from the National Endowment for the Arts.
