Overview

This exhibition of the late Dan Flavin's work includes Flavin's first piece executed entirely in fluorescent light, diagonal of May 25, 1963 (to Constantin Brancusi), 1963.  Also on view are Flavin's icon series, untitled, 1970, and the site-specific work commissioned by Dia that stretches from the first floor to the roof through Dia's stairwells at 548 West 22nd Street, and consists of blue and green fluorescent light.

Dan Flavin was born in New York City in 1933. He died in Riverhead, New York, in 1996.
