Independent scholar Anne Rorimer discusses the work of On Kawara, Blinky Palermo, and Lawrence Weiner, elucidating her curatorial collaborations with the respective artists. In conversation with Dia curator Jordan Carter, Rorimer will chart her practice’s intersections with Dia’s collection, highlighting Weiner’s 5 Figures of Structure (1987), which was originally commissioned by Rorimer for the Arts Club of Chicago and is on view at Dia Beacon.
The program takes place in the Blinky Palermo galleries at Dia Beacon. The conversation will be introduced by Donna De Salvo, Dia’s senior adjunct curator, special projects.
Anne Rorimer is an independent scholar specializing in post-1965 European and American art. She began her curatorial career in the early 1970s at the Art Institute of Chicago, where she worked until 1984. She was the co-curator, with Ann Goldstein, of 1965–1975: Reconsidering the Object of Art, at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, 1995–96. In addition to articles for periodicals, including Artforum and October, she has written many essays for exhibition catalogs. She is the author of New Art in the 60s and 70s: Redefining Reality (2001). Rorimer lives in Chicago.
