Thursday, December 19, 2002    add to my calendar

Based in Johannesburg, William Kentridge works in many media, including drawing, theater, and animation. His work has been shown extensively throughout the world, including one-person exhibitions at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington D.C. (2001), Museu d’Art Contemporani, Barcelona (1999), and the Kunstverein Munich (1998). Group shows include Documenta 10 (1997) and 11 (2002) and the Sydney Biennal (1996). Dia’s most recent presentation of Bruce Nauman’s work Mapping the Studio I (Fat Chance John Cage), was from January 10 to July 27, 2002. In 2000-2001, Dia’s exhibition “…the nearest faraway place…” counterpointed the work of Nauman and Rodney Graham.
