About Liliana Porter
Liliana Porter, born in Argentina, currently resides in New York. She works across mediums in printmaking, works on canvas, photography, video, installations, and public art projects. Her many solo exhibitions include recent presentations at Barbara Krakow Gallery, Boston (2010); Sicardi Gallery, Houston (2009); Galería Ruth Benzacar, Buenos Aires (2009); and a major retrospective at Museo Museo Rufino Tamayo, Mexico City (2009). From May to July 2011, her work is on view in “The Incongruous Image – Marcel Broodthaers and Liliana Porter” at the New Museum, New York. Porter co-founded in 1965 the New York Graphic Workshop along with artists Luis Camnitzer and Jose Guillermo Castillo. A Guggenheim Fellow (1980), she was also the recipient of three New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowships (1999, 1996, 1985), the Mid Atlantic/NEA Regional Fellowship (1994), and seven PSC-CUNY research awards (1994–2004). In 1991, she became a professor at Queens College, CUNY, where she taught until 2007.
