Museum Policies
Things to know during your visit.
Photography & Recording
All works in the galleries at Dia:Beacon are protected under copyright laws and Dia has responsibilities to honor those rights.
Photography, video or the use of recording devices are not permitted. Photography of the exterior of the building and grounds is permitted for personal use only.
Coat and Bag Check Facilities
Please leave large bags/purses at home.
Visitors are required to check all backpacks, packages & open parcels, umbrellas, and bags/purses larger than 11X14 inches. Coatroom facilities are free of charge.
Cellular Phones
Please turn off cellular phones and pagers while inside the museum. Cell phone use is prohibited inside the galleries.
Food and Drinks
Food and drinks, including water bottles are not permitted inside the galleries. We ask you not to bring outside food into our café. We offer an intimate picnic area for lunching.
Children Must Be Supervised
Children under the age of 12 must be supervised and accompanied by an adult at all times.
Strollers
Strollers are permitted inside the museum. Backpack and framed baby back carriers are not permitted.
No Smoking
The museum is a smoke-free environment.
Sketching/Drawing/Note taking
Sketching and writing are welcome, but with pencil only please (no pens, no markers, no paints).
Service Animals and Pets
Only working assistance and guide animals with valid ID are permitted at Dia:Beacon. Pets are not allowed.
Protecting the Artwork
Please do not touch or lean on the artwork. We ask for your cooperation in protecting our artwork, the paintings and sculptures are fragile and can be damaged by the most innocent and gentle touch.
Gallery Attendants
Our Gallery Attendants are there for your assistance and to help protect you and the art; please respect their requests. If a Gallery Attendant asks you to move farther away from an artwork or not to touch an artwork, please remember that this is a part of their job.
